It just now occurred to me the fundamental reason why people do not want to accept a reality that a more capitalist society is better for a society than a society that lets government involve itself in the peoples matters, is because often people can SEE the benefits of taxes, and subsidies and government involvement, while the downsides are larger but invisible, also people seeing the benefit they receive from the government fear that they would not sustain the standard of living they have earned without the redistribution of wealth from others.  They are afraid to stand on their own two feet without coming to terms that, although they aren't standing on their own two feet, they are lifting another person while another person lifts them.  If only someone would tell them they merely had to put both their feet down and stop depriving themselves of their dignity by the way they are touching so many other people.
